About Me
Carolyne O’Ryan is a senior candidate in the Biomedical Art Department at the Cleveland institute of Art graduating in the spring of 2013. She is currently working on her Bachelor of Fine Arts Thesis project. Her BFA challenges common societal paradigms regarding predicted global climate change. Through the use of 2D digital media including illustrative, animatic and contemporary sound design techniques she will attempt to simplify complex topics pertaining to global climate change with an innovative style. Carolyne’s previous work combines traditional and new age media to educate various audiences on biological subjects ranging from gross human anatomy, to physiological processes on a molecular level. She has collaborated with various institutions during her years of study at the Cleveland institute of Art including the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, the Cleveland Botanical Gardens, and the University Hospitals. Her work was recently exhibited at the Spring Show organized by the Biomedical Art department at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. She’s been featured as a visiting artist at the American Geophysical Union’s 45th annual Fall Meeting in San Francisco, California, presenting conceptual work pertinent to global climate change. Carolyne recently completed an internship this past summer of 2012 a NASA’S Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. There she was working with science professionals within the Biosphere department creating educational visual aids relating to carbon and its effects on our planet. She looks forward to a career in a medical field involving art and design.
